Shinkawa Maruike Park was planned through a workshop under a theme of recreation that had been local residents’ wish. Recreating the landscape for adults from their infant days and the environment for inhabitants were the main purposes of this project. The organization of this workshop shifted to Wakuwaku- Mura (the residents’ association) and even now, is involved in maintaining administration management. This achievement was appraised as a living creation with citizens’ participation throughout Japan and was awarded a prize by the ministry of general affairs for area creation in 2002. Also, recreating a symbiotic environment was one of our aims, and we can see a gradual improvement in stability of life such as birds like the kingfisher and others.
